3 Simple Tips to Build Your Email List

  • by

Did you know that sometime up to 75% of your visitors to your website leave with the intent to return? But what if they don’t?

Web Forms

A simple web-form could already be the first step towards scaling your email database. Keep the form very simple. Don’t ask too much information. People will click away if you do. Just a name and email address should do in most cases. Embed it on your website. That’s very easy to do when you use WordPress. There are many plug-ins available. Also consider to place the form on your Facebook page.

Pop-ups

To make the most of it, you can also try to capture each visitor’s details and turn them into a subscriber of your email list. The easiest way to do this is with an exit pop-up. When your visitor turns to leave, invite them to save your site or page for later and ask their permission to stay in touch. Make sure you’re not being too annoying with your pop-ups 🙂

Landing Pages

Landing pages are a great way to get people to subscribe to your email list. The concept is pretty simple: create a dedicated page with one purpose: get people to subscribe. For people to leave you with their details, there needs to be something in it for them. So you need to provide them something of value. It doesn’t have to be something expensive. Usually a report, a simple tool, check list or some piece of information does the trick. Make sure it’s relevant to your business and people will happily give you their information in exchange for your gift. I will go into much more details in another post.
